Taking place this Saturday 12th October, the Streatham Strut – a one-day musical festival running along the length of Streatham High Road – will feature 10 acts performing across 10 venues in 10 hours.

Admission to all events is free, so it’s a great way to hear a load of new bands and perhaps check out some new venues.

Matilda Gracia, influenced by the likes of KT Tunstall, Lianne Lahavas Bebe, brings soulful vocals, and folky melodies with a spanish twist. She’s performed at venues including Notting Hill Arts Club, Electric Ballroom, Spice of Life & The Bedford.

Whiskey Kittens play covers with a twist. This rock/pop duo play your favourite songs in a funky, rocked up style with stunning harmonies throughout. They love to interact with the crowd and will soon have everyone singing along!

Poppy Holmes is known for her ethereal and confessional style. With a theatrical background and lyrical prowess, her generation-spanning influences and warm, honey-like vocals traverse a broad emotional spectrum, earning plaudits for her “decidedly sophisticated” music.

Dieter Lee is an Austrian jazz pianist and studied under Mal Waldron in Munich. After decades as a backing musician, Dieter ended up on the five-star hotel circuit and found his way back to his roots: blues, jazz, and soul.

Vincent is joined by Paul on double bass and violinist Fran, fresh from storming Latitude Festival this year. Vincent has released 3 albums including the acclaimed ‘A Conversation with Fate’,and ’10 by 3’ , described as “beating with eloquence and genius”.

An instrumental group with jazz, funk, soul and Latin vibes, The Mayans credits include original material EP release Cowcatcher and work with artists as diverse as Big Boy Bloater, Paul Westwood Jazz Fx, Janet Kay, Femi Kuti, Barbara Thompson and Candy Staton.

Imperio Bamba define their sound as REBEL CHICHA, which is their unique take on the exciting and traditional Peruvian chicha. Look forward to chicha fused with psychedelic rock guitars and synths, and hypnotic rhythms like cumbia, salsa and merengue.

Formed last winter, trio Uncle Daddy serves up tunes to make London smile again. Richard Wilson (Beatwife / Rognvald), Nathan Saoudi (Fat White Family / Brian Destiny) and Joseph Pancucci (White Devil Disco / The Metros) are inspired by the human soul.

Chive, a herbaceous South London trio, infuse the airwaves with their delightful concoction of indie and alt rock. With guitars,drums, and a secret herb garden tended by their whimsical drummer, prepare to be enchanted by their sonic symphony!

A contemporary African folk band fronted by Ron Nkomba, playing energetic interpretations of traditional Malawian folk music. Singing in English & Chichewa,Malawi’s native languages, expect music that reflects their collective upbringing, which spans Europe, Asia and Africa.
