Mint Bar

Mint is an independent Cocktail Bar and Restaurant located on Streatham High Road within walking distance of Streatham Hill Station.  Mint Bar was formerly know as the Genevieve Public House (next to the former ABC Cinema) and more recently Baroque. The Mint Bar is the brainchild of Geoff Ridgeon, formerly general manager of the Mint Bar Group, The Southwark Rooms and, before that, one of the innovators of the hugely successful Match Bar chain.

Atmosphere

In 1999 Streatham High Road was designated as a conservation area' by Lambeth Council. That status is reserved for areas of special architectural or historic interest and one of the key reasons for the move was to protect the attractive features and character of the High Road. However, in Oct 2005 a council report highlighted how modern shop fronts, inappropriate replacement windows, doors and roofs and the increasing volume of traffic, pollution, noise and congestion have all contributed to damaging the character of the High Road. Mint was identified by Lambeth Council as one of 7 buildings along Streatham High Road exerting a negative impact on the character of the Conservation area. Other buildings include, Norwich House, Elgar House, No. 194-198 Streatham High Road, occupied by Iceland, Nos. 213a-c (corner of Stanthorpe Road and the High Road), and Nos. 374 - 382 (The Tile Warehouse) in Gracefield Gardens. source

Despite this, Mint's two tone cappuccino and cream exterior is clean and has ample seating under the canopy should you wish to sit outside. Of note are the delightful sliding doors that open up to provide ample ventilation inside this smoking bar. A nice feature, especially in the summer.

Inside, Mint is divided up into various sections. The venue also benefits from some sumptuous decor, great lighting and comfortable seats. This all helps make for a comfortable and relaxed environment, great for those who want to unwind at the end of the day. The venue also has ample seating.
