Taylors is an independent Gastro Pub with an Irish Gaelic theme located on Streatham High Road within walking distance of Streatham Hill Station.

Atmosphere

Taylors benefits from the wooden saloon bar style that you might expect to find in a traditional Irish Pub. This is probably owed a lot to the fact that this used to be an O'Neils pub up until a few years ago. Seating is comfortable. Lighting throughout the pub is quite soft and also benefits from good use of scented candles. The music was not too loud with a good selection played in the background.

For smokers, Seating is provided outside.

Entertainment/Specials

Taylors is a fully licensed Pub that also offers a variety of Entertainment to help break the week up.

On Tuesday evening, from 8.30pm, they host a quiz night that is - £1 a person to enter. For those that fancy a flutter, they also have a raffle with prize money to win.

On Thursdays they have a special on all spirits and cocktails offering 50p and a  - £1 off normal prices.

On Friday's from 7pm they have something called Dice Night. This offers customers the chance of a free drink on all spirits and mixer if they role a 9 or above.

Keep an eye out for other one off events.

Service

Notably the pubs landlady, Isabella, seems to take an active role in the day to day running of the pub. and results in an efficient yet attentive service that also seems to have rubbed off onto her staff. Food is ordered from the bar and condiments and cutlery are brought out to the table.

Food

Taylors is fully licensed and caters for both lunch and dinner with a new menu that has a good selection of red and white meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. They offer a good selection of food to suit most tastes prepared and cooked by their in house French Chef. They also offer a number of tapas style dishes that can be ordered as a light snack or as a starter.

On Sundays from Noon, Taylors offer a selection of Roasts (beef, Lamb, Chicken of Nut) with all the trimmings.

We ordered the following:

Main:

Sirloin Steak - £7.75
Served with homemade steak chips or new potatoes, vegetable of the day (Fresh Green Beans), small side salad and Bearnaise Sauce

Homemade Chicken and Leak Pie (Special/Dish of the Day) - £6.50
Served on a bed of mash potato, vegetable of the day (Fresh Green Beans) with large tender pieces of chicken.

Both dishes ordered were well presented and offered generous portions which left us feeling quite satisfied.

Drinks

Taylors offer a good selection of wines to accompany your food. Also of note is their selection of organic fruit juices. Taylor's also offer an good range of cocktail's, and shooters and draught beers.

Summary

Taylors makes a cut above your average pub and offers an excellent choice of good quality food at reasonable prices. Taylors is a great local pub that would also make a good meeting place for a first date or a place to impress your parents when they come to visit.

Also of note is the traditional decor, comfortable seating and a good use of lighting. All these factors combined with their philosophy of offering great value for money and a friendly but efficient service make it one of Streatham's best kept secrets.
