A man has issued a desperate appeal for his beloved penny farthing after it was stolen from outside a hair salon in London.

Robert Torto, 44, was getting his hair cut when his Trotts and Son's penny farthing was stolen from a bike rack in Streatham Hill at around 1pm on June 3.

CCTV footage from a nearby pharmacy captured the suspected thief wheeling the penny farthing away from the scene.

The eccentric mode of transport is 56 inches tall and has a distinctive red rear tyre.

A homeless pair have been charged with murder following a house fire in south London that left a man dead.

Mayara Loiola Ataide, 34 and Gevaldo Tavares Dos Santos, 46 both of no fixed address, were charged this morning.

They were also charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life. Both will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates' Court later today.

A second person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in a suspected arson attack in south London.

The Met Police were called by the London Fire Brigade to a multi-occupancy house in Glenister Park Road, Streatham, shortly after 7pm on Sunday, following reports of a fire. Tragically 49-year-old man was found dead inside.
