Former retail worker Saj Cavet polished off 36 of the baker's iconic pastries during the seven-day challenge which he ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The 25-year-old swapped his usual healthy diet for the British staple and dropped to just over 14 stone from 14st5llbs. 'I wasn't getting balanced meals in but the calories consumed were less than normal and I was in a calorie deficit,' Saj said. 'I actually laughed when I saw the scales but I would not recommend someone doing this diet. I feel okay now. 'You might lose weight but your body is going to feel rubbish.' Saj, from Dulwich, started the challenge at the Greggs branch in Streatham, south London, and finished at the Denmark Hill store. He also visited London Bridge and Clapham during the mission, which saw him gain around a million views on TikTok. Two days after finishing the challenge, Saj woke up to discover one side of his face had completely swelled and he rushed to the hospital. It is unclear whether the swelling was related to his diet of sausage rolls, but he claims the doctor informed him that 'these infections are often caused by a lack of a balanced diet'. When asked about why he took on the challenge, Saj said: 'I was bored and knew I would love eating sausage rolls, and that it would be a cheap and fun challenge. 'I started off having two sausage rolls for breakfast, lunch, and dinner but I quickly realised I wouldn't be able to keep up. 'On average I had five or six a day, but one day I ate eight and each one is around the 325-calorie mark. 'I cycled to each location and was walking about 8,000 steps every day so I was still doing exercise. 'Genuinely I felt OK. It was physically and mentally easier than I thought. 'But two days after I woke up and noticed I couldn't open my mouth properly which was strange. 'I then got a shock when I looked in the mirror. I freaked out as nothing like this had happened before. 'I got it looked at in urgent care and I told the doctor about the challenge. The doctor laughed it off. I can't point the finger at anyone but myself.' The swelling clamed down after a few days and Saj was able to get back to normal after taking a dose of penicillin-based antibiotics. He said he had been trying to eat healthy for quite a while before the challenge but he 'absolutely loves Greggs'. 'I used to work on the high-street and would always buy their sandwiches,' he added. 'It's a British brand and the staff are always really friendly. 'I will have a breather from Greggs sausage rolls but I've still got some homemade ones in the fridge which I've been picking at since the challenge ended. 'I'm not totally fed up of them just yet.' At the end, one fan commented: 'You'll miss them tomorrow.' Another wrote: 'I don't know why I'm so obsessed with this but I am.' Greggs has been contacted for comment.
