An armed police officer cleared of murder after shooting dead a violent criminal four years ago will likely never return to firearms duty, the head of the union for Scotland Yard's rank and file has said.

Engineering work is taking place between Tulse Hill and Selhurst, closing various lines very early on Tuesday to Thursday mornings (August 25 to August 27).

As a result, the 12.01am train from London Bridge to Selhurst will divert after Tulse Hill and terminate at Norwood Junction.

The major works on the A23 Streatham Hill, north of Croydon, which began 12 months ago, are due to enter their final phase from September 1.

Work on the next phase of improvements on the A23 Streatham Hill will begin in September, with temporary traffic restrictions in place while the final major elements of the scheme are completed.
