The Jets have been in fine form this season, soaring to the top of the table off the back of some thumping victories. However, they didn't have things all their own way this weekend as Streatham claimed a deserved home win. At the Hangar on Saturday evening the Jets strolled to victory, however, they didn't make the breakthrough until the second period, despite peppering Aaron Taylor's goal in the first period. Brandon Miles broke the deadlock at 34.14, finishing well from Christian Mohr's pass, while a second goal followed before the second break when Ollie Hemmings-Maher slotted home with only 1.28 left on the clock in the middle period. They then backed that up with another two-goal period as the points were wrapped up with two goals from Jack Goodchild at 40.45 and 47.50. Matt Smital remained solid in the home goal to secure another shutout victory. The Jets led at Streatham on Sunday, with Jack Goodchild continuing his fine streak with a goal at 30.16. That came from a powerplay, and they looked to be edging to victory when Jacob Soper scored their second at 49.46. However. Streatham are dangerous on their own ice and they pulled a goal back through Roman Cathcart at 51.00. They then levelled at 54.16 through Jordan Gregory before the home side were awarded a penalty at 55.13 that Danny Ingoldsby converted to make it 3-2. The Jets threw caution to the wind as they went in search of a leveller, but that left gaps at the back that Streatham exploited with Nikolais Romahs making it 4-2 at 57.15. Speaking after the weekend Jets head coach Lucas Smital said: “I was pleased with another all-round solid performance on Saturday night and another win on the board. “Sunday was disappointing not to come away with the game. I thought for 50 minutes we were the better team, but ice hockey is played over 60 minutes, and we must work on closing out tight games like that.” The Jets have just the one game this weekend when they take on Oxford at the Slough Ice Arena on Sunday. Doors open at 5pm for a 5.45pm face-off. Web Link Mixed results for Slough Jets against Solent Devils and Streatham - Maidenhead … Maidenhead Advertiser
