A new Member of Parliament is being elected for the Greater London constituency which includes the Lambeth wards of Clapham Park; St Martin's; Streatham Common and Vale; Streatham Hill East; Streatham Hill West and Thornton; Streatham St Leonard's and Streatham Wells and the Croydon wards of Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood, Norbury and Pollards Hill, Norbury Park and Thornton Heath. The seat was created for the 2024 general election and was created from the Croydon North and Streatham constituencies. The shock summer general election was called by Rishi Sunak on May 22, with elections taking place in all 650 seats across the UK. Since the 2019 general election major boundary changes affecting 90% of Parliamentary constituencies have come into force. Ahead of the election, a Conservative government had been in power in Parliament since 2010. Polls closed in the general election 2024 at 10pm on Thursday, July 4, with counts taking place overnight.
