Description

Streatham Common entered the prestigious Green Flag parks and green spaces awards for the first time – and boosted Lambeth’s awards total to its highest ever.

Lambeth Council is celebrating along with residents and community partners after Streatham Common secured a Green Flag Award for the first time.

The news is testament to the hard work and dedication of the partnership of the council staff, community partners and residents that care for it, allowing everybody to experience and enjoy this important public open space.

Cllr Rezina Chowdhury, Deputy Leader for Lambeth Council and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Lambeth and Clean Air, said:

“Lambeth now has 23 Award-winning sites, including Streatham Rookery which sits beside the Common, meaning both open spaces are now able to fly a Green Flag, demonstrating to everybody our total commitment to providing the public with parks and green spaces we can all be proud of.”

“Their members, staff and supporters should be rightly proud of what they have achieved together to make the Common a safe, welcoming, sustainable and positive experience for all of the residents of Lambeth, and those from other neighbouring boroughs, who visit and enjoy this precious yet unique open space.”
