Hospital cyber-attack hampers GP blood services

Doctors' surgeries in London have continued to struggle with the impact of a cyber attack that knocked out pathology services across the area.

Synnovis, an agency which manages labs for NHS trusts and GPs in south-east London, was the victim of a hack on 3 June.

It has led to the cancellation of thousands of operations and appointments.

Blood testing remains at a fraction of its former capacity, with only urgent and critical cases being processed.

Streatham stabbings: Terror response PC will not face misconduct case - BBC.com

An armed policeman who crashed while racing to the scene of a terror attack will not face misconduct proceedings, a police watchdog has said.

PC Paul Fisher, 46, was cleared of dangerous driving at Southwark Crown Court last month.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) had brought gross incompetence proceedings against the officer in 2021 but has now withdrawn the case.

Scotland Yard has welcomed the move.

PC Fisher reached speeds of more than 80mph (129km/h) while responding to a stabbing spree in Streatham by Sudesh Amman in February 2020.

His unmarked BMW lost control and hit three other vehicles and a house in Streatham, south London, injuring three people.

Streatham High Road: Conflicting speed limit signs cause confusion - BBC.com

Road users have been left confused by conflicting speed limit signs on a south London road.

Painted road markings indicating that Streatham High Road was a 20mph zone appeared next to an existing 30mph sign on the busy thoroughfare last week.

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed the speed limit on the road remained 30mph but it would become 20mph in December.

The speed reduction would improve road safety, TfL said.

Driver Alex Mapp, 41, said he did a double take when he passed the conflicting signs on his way back from the supermarket.
