Lambeth Council said it would suspend the Streatham Wells LTN after a bus was reported to have taken more than two hours to travel less than three miles on the A23. The council’s U-turn comes a week after Mayor Sadiq Khan admitted the LTN was “not working” and was “causing huge problems”. Sadiq Khan says changes coming 'ASAP' to LTN where bus took two hours to travel three miles Submitted by daniel on Thu, 29/02/2024 - 08:00 Picture Image Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has said changes are coming “ASAP” to a low traffic neighbourhood which has fueled so much congestion that one bus took two hours to travel three miles. Traffic has reportedly become so bad around the Streatham Wells Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) that buses have to be diverted at peak times, or navigate through the zone itself, to avoid gridlock. Transport for London (TfL) data showed one bus took 121 minutes to travel 2.9 miles as the A23, which runs along one side of the LTN, became so congested. Murder investigation after man dies in Streatham house fire Submitted by daniel on Mon, 26/02/2024 - 08:00 Picture Image A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson after a man died following a suspicious house fire in south London. The Metropolitan Police were called by London Fire Brigade to a multi-occupancy house in Glenister Park Road, Streatham, shortly after 7pm on Sunday, where they found a 49-year-old man dead inside. On Monday a 34-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life. The man’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers.
