Claims of "policing issues" over the high profile case were reportedly flagged by ministers following the high profile Chris Kaba murder case. Police officers across the country threatened to put down their weapons if Metropolitan Police marksman Martyn Blake was found guilty of murder. Kaba, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed by the officer - who was found not guilty.

The police marksman who shot Chris Kaba dead now has a "price on his head," according to reports.

Sergeant Martyn Blake, 40, was acquitted of murder on Monday afternoon and today, after reporting restrictions were lifted, the Mirror was able to document details of Mr Kaba's link to the Brixton Hill-based 67 gang.

And Mr Kaba, 24, was said to have shot a rival in the legs at a nightclub six days before he died during the police stop in September 2022, and would have stood trial for attempted murder had he survived.

Blake, 40, shot the 24-year-old through the front windscreen of an Audi Q8 after identifying the vehicle as one that had been used as a getaway car in a shooting the night prior. The car was hemmed in by police cars in Kirkstall Gardens after an officer recognised its registration number. A helicopter and six police cars were involved in the stop.

The 24-year-old was shot in the head in Streatham, south London on September 5 2022, dying in hospital shortly after midnight the following day. Jurors have already been told that Mr Kaba was hemmed in by police cars in Kirkstall Gardens and drove the cari forwards and backwards in an attempt to escape.

Police have charged two people with murder after a cleaner was found dead in a house fire.

Basilio Dos Santos Antonio, 49, was found lifeless inside the multi-occupied property in Streatham, South London last month. The London Fire Brigade rushed to the scene shortly after 7pm on Sunday, February 25.

Mayara Loiola Ataide, 34, and Gevaldo Tavares Dos Santos, 46, were charged with murder on Wednesday. They were also charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life.
