South London train services cancelled this Half Term - RailAdvent - Railway News

Passengers are reminded that due to upgrade works, no trains will operate on certain sections of the Southern, Thameslink and London Overground networks from Saturday, 26 October to Friday, 1 November, coinciding with the half-term week.

The upgrades will occur between Crystal Palace, Tulse Hill, and Peckham Rye as part of Network Rail’s £400 million investment programme in track and signalling improvements across South London.

Train services will be suspended for one week at the end of October on parts of National Rail and London Overground lines in South London because of improvements being made to the signalling,

The disruption will be during the half-term week from Saturday, 26 October to Friday 1 November.

During the closure, passengers on Thameslink services between Herne Hill, Wimbledon and Sutton should use London Buses or alternative National Rail, London Trams, or London Underground routes.

Network Rail has finished its work to make Streatham station more accessible by providing step-free access to all the station's platforms.

The £5m upgrade involved installing two lifts to connect the ticket hall with the platforms. Passengers with mobility impairments or travelling with luggage, children or bicycles will now be able to move around the station without using steps.

As part of the upgrade project, Network Rail also:

realigned the stairs on platform 2

renewed stairs and handrails on platform 1
