Atmosphere

On the outside, Slurp's silver coloured exterior stands out on the high street while the windows seemed to be tinted, which cleverly helps to protect the privacy of those inside. A nice touch.

Inside, Slurp is split into two halves, with a choice of non-smoking near the entrance and smoking near the bar. The venue is well lit and has ample seating. The decor is minimal with tables and benches, similar to what you might expect from a noodle bar such as Wagamama. What struck me was the vibrant use of colours throughout the venue and its ample artwork on display.

Upon further discussion I found out that Slurp actively helps promote local artists. As well as being active in this years Yellow Bowl Festival, Slurp is a great venue to view local artists work. Apparently, a few artists who have displayed their work, have had their paintings purchased. Even though the restaurant does not benefit financially, it certainly is a treat for its customers, depending on your taste.

We had pre-booked out table and when we arrived we were warmly received and quickly seated. This independent restaurant has a very friendly and relaxed service, and is certainly not rushed.

Summary

Slurp is an impressive venue that offers excellent value for money 7 days a week. It is the first time that I have seen a clear choice of either Thai, Japanese and Chinese cuisine on the menu. The menu is also well designed and this makes it easy to pick and choose your dish.

Also of note is the stylish decor and its support for local artists. All these factors help to make eating at Slurp an unique experience. Slurp also cater for takeaways. Recommended.
