Backed by developer Belmont Property, the project will see the former Rowans Surgery demolished. The plot will then be developed into a row of three-storey, three-bedroom family homes broken into a trio of terraces. Designed to fit the character of their suburban residential surrounds, the houses will have brick exteriors with 'henge-like' stone porches, large windows and dormer roofs. Each residence will have its own dedicated car parking space with an electric-vehicle charging point, as well as a south-facing garden and secure cycle parking. The practice said: 'Our experience of working with [the] planning officers was collaborative and constructive; relatively minor technical factors that often crop up and hamper design development and site optimisation, even project viability, were successfully overcome in this instance. 'Given the new government's stated intention to increase house-building, an ambition frequently set against a perception of resistance from planning authorities we found the planning process here to be frictionless, responsive and efficient, with experienced officers making mature planning-balance based decisions. That and a well-drilled and experienced client team have steered the proposals to a rapid consent.' The Streatham scheme is the latest London residential scheme for the Bloomsbury based practice. In 2022 the studio won approval to double the size of a Victorian terrace to the west of the capital and in the same year submitted plans for 148 homes as part of the mammoth Old Oak and Park Royal development, receiving permission that October.
