The practice, which has studios in the City of London and Winchester, received approval for the scheme on Mitcham Lane.

The scheme involves demolishing a low-rise former joiners yard and replacing it with a four-storey apartment block.

A pair of two-bed flats will be created on the ground floor while a single three-bed home will occupy the top level.

The two middle floors will provide six apartments designed for between one and three people each.

The practice received the go-ahead from Merton Council for the 990m² scheme in Windemere Road in Streatham.

Backed by developer Belmont Property, the project will see the former Rowans Surgery demolished.

The plot will then be developed into a row of three-storey, three-bedroom family homes broken into a trio of terraces.

Designed to fit the character of their suburban residential surrounds, the houses will have brick exteriors with 'henge-like' stone porches, large windows and dormer roofs.
