The full list of confirmed Homebase stores shutting their doors in January has emerged - but the exact dates of each has not been clarified. The stores closing include branches in Bradford, in Broadstairs, in Cheltenham and in Colchester Stanway as well as in Coventry, in Derby Chaddesden and in Gloucester. Stores in Hull Hessle and London Streatham Vale will also be shuttered. The homeware and DIY giant is also swinging the doors shut at the likes of its Oban, Oldbury and Romford branches, as well as in Wolverhampton. CDS has announced nine locations which will be turned into new-format The Range stores. Alex Simpkin, chief executive of CDS Superstores, owner of The Range, said at the time: "We've stepped in following the sad demise of the much-loved Homebase brand, which has had a long and previously successful history of helping UK households with their DIY projects and gardening needs, for over 45 years." The f ull list of new hybrid The Range stores includes Bournemouth - opening January 17 and Glasgow - opening January 17 as well as Birmingham - opening January 17, Newton Abbot - opening January 24, Felixstowe - opening January 24 and Blyth - opening January 24. Other sites include Leicester - opening January 31, Stroud - opening January 31 and in Blandford - opening January 31. The new stores will feature products usually found in The Range but some will also contain "Garden Centres by Homebase". The parent company of The Range and Wilko said the move would see 1,600 staff keep their jobs. It is also relaunching the Homebase website as part of the deal. Simpkin, chief executive officer of CDS Superstores, said: "We’re fully committed to retaining the best of Homebase’s heritage while introducing the broader product range and value that customers expect from us as The Range."
