New restaurant proposed by Transport for London for the disused back of Brixton station

Transport for London is proposing a "attractive new restaurant" for the abandoned rear of Brixton Underground station.

Lambeth Council has received designs for the new location from Places for London, the property arm of the transport authority.

Previously, Tube employees employed the abandoned section of the station that faces Electric Lane as a recreational area.

According to Places for London, the absence of takeaway would reduce the possibility that the new location would draw antisocial behavior.

According to Places for London, the new location won't negatively affect the amenities of nearby residences.

In addition, it stated that the restaurant would be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 to 23:00 and close at midnight on weekends.

King's Cross holds most personal injury claims of TfL stations

Over the previous five years, King's Cross saw more personal injury claims than any other Tube station due to incidents that occurred there.

It also shows that King's Cross was the most popular place for individuals to seek compensation, but Waterloo station had the most reported injuries.

London Underground’s book exchanges could be saved

The mini-libraries, which were first established in the city 20 years ago, were eliminated by Transport for London (TfL) on Tuesday due to fire safety concerns.

Throughout the network, commuters were encouraged by the shelves to either take a book for free or leave one for another person to enjoy.

This week, comutters saw a sign appearing in several stations across London read: “Due to fire safety regulations from the London Fire Brigade, we have been forced to close all book exchange libraries.

“[This] is on all London Underground stations with immediate effect. We are all sad to see this go. Thank you for all your support over the years.”

The Independent has shared that a source close to Mr Khan said TfL was urgently working with the London Fire Brigade to ensure the shelves were reinstated.
