A man has been hospitalised following a stabbing in the early hours of the morning on Streatham High Road, South London. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 4:10am on Tuesday, December 24.

Emergency Response

The Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended the incident, where they found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was treated on-site before being rushed to a London major trauma center as a priority.

An LAS spokesperson confirmed the quick response:

We were called at 4.10am to reports of a stabbing incident in Streatham High Road, SW16. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, and an incident response officer. The first of our crews arrived in less than a minute. Our crews treated a man at the scene before taking him to hospital.”

The victim’s injuries have since been confirmed as not life-threatening or life-changing, according to a statement from the police.

Road Closures and Diversions

Streatham High Road, a major stretch of the A23 linking London to Brighton, remains closed six hours after the incident. This has led to significant traffic disruptions, with several London bus routes diverted. Drivers have been advised to avoid the area and plan alternative routes where possible.

Investigation Ongoing

The Met Police confirmed no arrests have been made, and enquiries are ongoing.

“At this early stage, there have been no arrests. Road closures remain in place, and we continue to investigate.”
