Hive Cafe in Streatham, South London, has been forced to close after a series of vandalism attacks which have caused £75,000 damage and left staff feeling abandoned by the police. The demonstrators, dubbed the ‘Tooting Four’ took part in action dubbed "Khanage @ Khan's" in April of this year. They joined a 100-strong group of campaigners protesting against Khan’s Ultra-low emissions zone (ULEZ) policy. Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Nicholas Arlett, Allison Young, Martin Whitehead and Lloyd Dunsford were found guilty of harassment. The firm has set a deadline of the end of next week for potential buyers to snap up its remaining shops in the UK and Ireland. It appointed administrators at consultancy Teneo after it was hit hard by an "incredibly challenging" three years for the DIY sector. Administrators struck a deal to sell the business to retail group CDS, which owns The Range and Wilko, securing the future of up to 1,600 jobs and 70 stores. Speaking to James O’Brien on LBC, the mayor of London offered direct thanks to Martyn Blake, 40, who shot Kaba dead behind the wheel of a car in Streatham in September that year. He also thanked other armed police officers for their efforts in keeping the streets of London safe. Mr Khan refused to name Mr Blake directly, choosing instead to refer to him by his codename NX121. Martyn Blake, 40, stood trial at the Old Bailey after shooting the 24-year-old through the front windscreen of an Audi Q8 in Streatham, south-east London, on September 5 2022. The car had been used as a getaway vehicle in a shooting the previous evening, and was hemmed in by police cars in Kirkstall Gardens after an officer recognised its registration number.
