‘Black Elvis’ and a Bikathlon: Fundraiser hits Streatham pub for mothers day - South London News
Description

This mothers day, an iconic Streatham boozer will invite the public to a mad-hatter fundraising event promising live music and entertainment.

The Crown & Sceptre, on the corner of Streatham Hill and the South Circular, is a landmark of South London, made even more famous by a 1978 Clash song.

Locally listed, and maintaining its original Truman’s red tiling, this Victorian pub will host an evening of live music, fundraising events and raffles on March 30, to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

First up there will be a ‘Bikathlon’, where keen cyclists will take to an indoor exercise bike with the aim of reaching a collaborative total of 300 miles.

There will be two biking sessions on March 15 and 22, in the lead up to the grand finale on March 30. The mammoth challenge aims to raise £1000 for GOSH’s Children’s Cancer Centre.

Later in the evening singer Colbert Hamilton, who goes by the stage name “Black Elvis”, will take to the stage with a celebration of classics from the King of Rock and Roll.

Then there will be a raffle draw presented by keen fundraiser Bill Lorimer.

Tickets to enter the raffle will be £1, which will be donated to GOSH, with prizes including everything from speakers to candles and a 32-Inch Smart TV.
