Billed as an opportunity for a friendly chat and to catch up with old friends and make new ones, members are expected to chip chip in £1 a meeting to cover the costs of the tea, coffee and biscuits. Streatham Hill Road closures: Lambeth LibDems call for urgent resident input Submitted by daniel on Thu, 03/04/2025 - 10:00 Picture Image Transport for London (TfL) has announced that major works will start on the A23 Streatham Hill this summer, lasting until spring 2027. There will be widespread road closures and disruption. Liberal Democrat Councillors for the area are calling for a meeting with TfL and a locally-based consultation. Notices for works on what TfL calls a plan to “transform” the A23 between Sternhold Avenue and Holmewood Road have been published with a 21-day deadline for comment. After being briefly squatted within a week of its closure, the shutters went up and the entrance was boarded up in December 2024. Since then, the Victorian building has predictably become a target for flyposters and taggers, and what was once a bustling part of the area has become a ghost town at night.
