Monday to Wednesday (September 16 to September 18):

Engineering work is taking place between Three Bridges and Brighton, closing some lines.

The 11.25pm train from London Victoria to Brighton service will be diverted between Haywards Heath and Brighton via Lewes, and will not call at Burgess Hill or Hassocks.

The upgrade work means that no trains will run on parts of the National Rail and London Overground from Saturday, October 26 through to Friday, November 1.

These upgraded signalling systems will impact Thameslink trains, Southern Rail and the London Overground.

The changes are part of a £400 million programme of investment in track and signalling upgrades that Network Rail is delivering in south London.

Previously, signalling updates have been implemented between East Croydon and London Victoria back in 2o22.

The work will affect trains from September 14 (Saturday) through to September 15 (Sunday)

September 14 and 15 (Saturday and Sunday)

Engineering work is taking place between Streatham Hill and Norwood Junction, closing all lines via Crystal Palace.

On Saturday and Sunday, no trains will run between Streatham Hill and Norwood Junction or London Bridge through Sydenham or New Cross Gates.

The work will affect trains on Saturday and Sunday (September 7 and 8).

September 7 (Saturday)

There's engineering work happening between Preston Park and Angmering this Saturday evening.

All train lines will be closed.

The 11.16pm train from London Victoria to Chichester end its journey at Brighton instead.

A replacement bus will then take passengers from Brighton to Chichester, stopping at all stations along the way.

Over the weekend planned engineering work taking place in the London Victoria and Herne Hill area will affect some Thameslink trains.

Here’s what you need to know:

Reduced Thameslink trains to and from Sutton

From Saturday (September 7) to Sunday (September 8) Thameslink will be running a reduced service to and from Sutton.

This is a result of engineering work in Herne Hill which will close some lines over the weekend.

South London stations affected:

Tulse Hill

Streatham

Mitcham Eastfields

Mitcham Junction

Gabriel is missing from his home in Streatham.

The 15-year-old is described as 5'9" tall, with a slim build and curly brown hair.

He has links to Lewisham.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Gabriel has links to the Lewisham area, please help us support the Wandsworth team in finding him. If seen please call 101 and quote ref 01/654074/24.

The incident happened in Abercairn Road at 3.20am yesterday (July 22).

Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a man injured.

He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition was assessed as serious.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at 3:20hrs on Monday, 22 July to reports of a man being stabbed in Abercairn Road, SW16.

“Officers attended alongside paramedics from London Ambulance Service.

The incident reportedly happened in Abercairn Road at around 3.15am today (July 22), according to Lambeth and Southwark Assembly Member, Marina Ahmed, on X (formally known as Twitter).

It is unknown whether the road has been closed or whether a crime scene is in place.

We have contacted the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service for further information on the incident.

The full tweet says: “There was a stabbing in the early hours at approx 3.15am today in Abercairn Road, SW16.

Fire crews were called to a flat fire in Aldrington Road in Streatham early this morning (July 12) at around 1:41am.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to the scene with crews from Tooting, West Norwood, Norbury and surrounding fire stations despatched to the scene.

Part of the ground floor of the semi-detached property made up of three floors was damaged by the fire.

Three people who became trapped on the second floor were rescued by fire crews from the building by ladder and were treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Steve Reed won with 23,232 votes, a majority of 15,603 which accounted for 52.1 percent of the vote, a slight decrease by 5.8 percent from the previous election in 2019.

Mr Reed will be returning to his role as MP after serving as MP for Croydon North since 2012, as well as shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs since September 2023.

Mr Reed’s previous seat for Croydon North was abolished this year and replaced by Streatham and Croydon North as the new constituency.
